Children, individuals aged 60 above, with impaired immune systems are more susceptible developing RSV infections (LRTIs), which can result in fatalities some instances. Symptoms of LRTI include shortness breath, wheezing, pneumonia, bronchiolitis. Current management RSV-LRTI includes conservative symptomatic treatment. The Food Drug Administration (FDA) recently approved two vaccines effectively prevent acute severe requiring hospitalizations. Nirsevimab (Beyfortus) for infants born at 35 weeks gestation above. At same time, RSVPreF3 OA (Arexvy) recommended adults older. Both effective against major strains require single doses induce immunity.
